I was afraid losing my repoductive organs meant losing my feminine wisdom, power, and much much more. I was wrong. The depressions were becoming worse. Since the onset of my menstrual cycle at 14, every month was a crap shoot. Never knowing if the symptoms 'this' month would be mild or severe. After my 40th birthday, the severity increased. I wasn't getting a break between months. My bad months were EVERY month. After a few months, and with help from my GP and OB/GYN, it was clear that I needed the surgery. We shut my ovaries down for 3 consecutive months. My PMDD dissipated until it was nonexistant. I was overwhelmed. Still disbelieving. But 1.5 years later, I am symptom free. I was reborn after the complete hysterectomy. I am still waiting for a depressive cycle and very happy to report there hasn't been one since

WOW. I am so glad to read some positive news. Even when PMDD does what it does to us it takes a lot of guts to actually go through with the op. I'm so glad you are symptom free and feeling like a new woman. Please, share away if you will. Was it a massive immediate relief like the snap of your fingers?
