Severe PMS (previously known on this forum as Premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD) is a condition in which a woman has severe depression symptoms, irritability and tension before menstruation. The symptoms are more severe than those seen with premenstrual syndrome but are similar. Generally they are more severe and debilitating and include at least one mood-related symptom.
PMDD or severe PMS symptoms occur during the few weeks before menstrual bleeding and improve within a few days after your period starts.
The good news is that with proper diagnosis and treatment the majority of women find that their symptoms go away or drop to tolerable levels.
Happy days.
