Some cultures have menstruation rituals that declare a woman who is on her period as "unclean". Some also require her to avoid certain activities for this reason. What year are we living in again??!! A study taken in March 2012 shows that Women in these cultures feel more shame about their periods than other women. On the up side it also shows that they feel a greater sense of bonding with other women over this shared experience.
Bringing periods "out of the closest" could and should help banish some of the mystery/taboo surrounding the female reproductive cycle.
The study researcher was Tomi-Ann Roberts who is/was a psychologist at Colorado College in Colorado Springs- LiveScience.
How sad it is that we live in such a time where women are allowed to sell their body, have high powered jobs and have made leaps and bounds when it comes to equality yet we can not discuss the most natural thing to happen to us almost every month of our lives.
